Abstract

The objectives of the study were to study the relationship between teachers’ professional development and learning environment with instructional quality at secondary level and to assess the mediating role of effective teaching practice and learning environment for improving instructional quality at secondary level. This descriptive research study was conducted. The population of the study consisted of secondary school teachers from four tehsils of District Rahim Yar Khan: Rahim Yar Khan, Liaquatpur, Khanpur and Sadiqabad. These tehsils were selected as representative areas for the study to ensure the inclusion of diverse educational backgrounds and teaching practices. A sample of 300 secondary school teachers was conveniently selected from these tehsils to participate in the research. Data were collected through a self-structured questionnaire designed to assess teachers’ perceptions of professional development activities and their impact on instructional quality. Questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. Based on the experts’ feedback, the questionnaire was revised and finalized. The copies of questionnaire were delivered personally to 300 school teachers. Two hundred and seventy-five questionnaires were received back by the researcher. So, the return rate was 91.6%. the major result of the study was that the professional development programs that they have participated in significantly enhanced their teaching skills.
